A recipe for a disaster

I love drinking smoothies, but I have yet to find a good smoothie recipe. So I gave up searching for the perfect smoothie and decided to make my own. I pulled out frozen blueberries, canned pineapple, tropical juice and yogurt. After everything was blended I decided to taste it. The taste…well… it was ok. I figured if I was very thirsty it would taste fantastic. So I decided to make a big (and I mean a big) batch and freeze the smoothie in freezer safe cups.

I was so excited that I would save lots of time on a hot day making a smoothie, that I just couldn’t believe on how homemaker like I have become. Well, I went to pour the “almost ok tasting smoothie” into a cup and ….. well… you can see for yourself. I spent the next 30 minutes scrubbing the floors and white cabinets. Apparently didn’t screw the pitcher very tight and it resulted in the smoothie covered floor and cabinets.

I need your help! Do you have a good smoothie recipe that you would love to share?

  1. Oh no! I've had similar blender disasters before too!

I have an amazing smoothie recipe that I actually got from healthytippingpoint.com. It may sound a little disgusting, but it tastes beyond amazing (and it has chuck full of great nutrients).

It's called a Green Monster and I think the idea originated from ohsheglows.com. The ingredients for a single serving that I usually make:

    2 cups raw spinach
    1 cup milk
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein
1 whole banana (I freeze these and don't have to use ice)
    1/3 cup pineapple chunks
    Ice (optional)

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy! You will not taste the spinach at all, but the color (bright green), might throw you at first! Very delicious, though, and a great way to squeeze in a serving of vegetables in a sneaky way! :)

  2. For a larger batch of low calorie smoothies this is what I do.

    1.5 cup cantaloupe
    2 cups frozen blueberries
    1 larger banana
2 teaspoons sugar OR 1 tablespoon of agave
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Ice
Put first five in blender then fill the blender to the top with ice. Add 1 cup of water and blend until smooth. Make 3 LARGE classes with only 129 calories each.

  4. ok best smoothie ever! i had tried a lot of different ones and this is my family's fave. 1 cup frozen strawberries
    1 cup frozen blueberries
    1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
enough orange juice to make the blender go, about halfway up the fruit. yummy!
    another one we like
fill mixer halfway with frozen mixed fruit, dole has one with mangoes, peaches, strawberries, and pineapple. add naked juice-we like mango madness-to halfway up the fruit.
    hope you like these.
